FiveCore Media Receives Top National Honors

Students and staff at Goshen College’s FiveCore Media received two Telly Awards for their work on the Good of Goshen campaign, a storytelling initiative helmed by EyeDart Creative Studios in Goshen, IN, and a video campaign for programs at the Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center.

A Bronze Telly was awarded to FiveCore for its work on the six video campaign for Merry Lea’s educational programs.

telly_silverThe Telly Awards is a national competition designed to distinguish commercials, video, film productions and work created for the web. The Telly is one of the most sought-after awards by industry leaders, from large international firms to local production companies and ad agencies. The 36th Annual Telly Awards received over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents.

“FiveCore Media provides incredible opportunities to work collaboratively on a variety of projects.” Says FiveCore Assistant Producer Jake Smucker.  “The faculty provide excellent leadership and I learn new things every day from the talented student staff we get to work with.”

Goshen College senior Elizabeth Derstine is a FiveCore team member whose professional work in college is a stepping stone to a profession.

“Working on a project that required a certain level of quality beyond what is passable for a film class project pushed me to learn what really makes a video worth paying for,” she said. “I also was able to work with equipment that I wouldn’t have had access to otherwise, and learned how to film as part of a larger team – not simply solo shooting.

“Being part of FiveCore Media has been, for my career path, one of the most valuable experiences I had at Goshen College,” she said.
