About the Film
Foodlife - Farming for a Sustainable Future
Of the 570 million farms in the world, 84% of them are small and produce a third of the world's food. Still over one billion people worldwide suffer food insecurity, with more than 9 million dying every year from starvation. One organization in Japan has devoted itself, for the last fifty years, to preventing hunger by teaching unique holistic farming solutions with something they call Foodlife. In the shadows of Japan's Nasu mountains lies a vocational training center called the Asian Rural Institute who is trying to make a dent in the food insecurity issues of our world. This documentary discovers how rural leaders from developing countries across the globe come to ARI for unique hands-on organic agriculture and leadership training with the hopes that they can make a difference in the lives of their community. Goshen College's Communication Department presents this documentary produced by it's own FiveCore Media.
